RED ROOM COMPUTER LAB UPGRADE
Students at the College of Architecture are getting an upgrade. OU IT and CoA have replaced the Dell Optiplex 745 computers in the Red Room computer lab with brand new HP Z400 computers. Formerly equipped with 20-inch single screens, the new computers feature dual 22 inch monitors for easier viewing of large class projects and program interfaces. The Z400 computers offer 100GB more hard drive space, triple the memory at 6GB, and quadruple the graphics power with a 512MB graphics card. Students requested the upgrades to maximize the capabilities of complex architecture software.
“The students asked for higher performance machines, so we worked hard to get the best quality machines for the price,” says Justin Davis, OU IT representative at the College of Architecture. "The new dual monitors double the available workspace and help increase productivity. The improved processing speed allows students to load and run the programs much faster.”
Students now have access to the new computers. The lab is open to College of Architecture students 24 hours a day, seven days per week. For more information, contact justindavis@ou.edu.
