OU’S INTERIOR DESIGN DIVISION GAINS NATIONAL ATTENTION

NORMAN – The Interior Design program in the University of Oklahoma College of Architecture was named tops in the top 10 in the nation by DesignIntelligence in its publication, America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools.

The Interior Design division was ranked second in the nation in the computer skills assessment area and among the top 10 overall.  Assistant Professor Elizabeth Pober is responsible for teaching the programs computer application courses.

Along with this recognition, Abimbola Asojo, director of the division of Interior Design and an associate professor, was named as one of DesignIntelligence Most Admired Educators of 2010.

DesignIntelligence surveyed 381 private practices in fields related to architecture, landscape architecture, interior design or industrial design when determining which programs would be included in this issue. These organizations determined which schools were best at preparing students for success in their respective fields.

“I am so proud of our Interior Design program,” said Asojo, adding that their selection as one of the top programs “validates our excellent work, shows that the division is moving with current design trends and, above all, elevates interior design education in the state of Oklahoma.”

“This ranking reaffirms that the college’s excellent programs and exceptional faculty are producing outstanding scholars,” said Charles Graham, dean of the College of Architecture.
